A. australe or, "Haplochilus sp. aus Kap Lopez" as it was referred to by
Arnold (1913) before its description by Rachow (1921), first came into the
hobby in 1913. Apparently, these first specimens were introduced by an
unknown sailor and purchased by someone named Wollmer. There is an article
by Eberl in a recent issue of the BKA Killi-News that discusses various
historical aspects of this species.
