Re: [Killietalk] Grindel Worm Question
Jack I raise mine in 3 -5 foot benches that have 3-4 inches of MAGIC WORM
BEDDING that is sprayed daily with water and fed Purina Worm Chow ( 50# bag
$10.00 cheaper than cat food) then they are covered with black plastic in
areas and clear plastic in other areas. When I lift the plywood cover the
red worms are on the surface under the black plastic and the grindals are on
the clear plastic. In the past I have harvested 1 cup of red and 1/2 cup of
grindals after washing daily from the three containers. The worm bedding
should be sweetened about once a month with a little Ag lime.
It is a cheep method and the space is not wasted it gives people ( fish
widows) a place to sit while talking fish. I have great fun in asking them
if they are hungry and then I open the box and grab a fistful of worms to
offer them a snack. I think Cathy Carney took the ones I offered her back to
Ohio a couple of years ago.
