[Killietalk] Fp.filamentosum
I brought back some eggs of Fp.filamentosum Ikeja from Sweden a couple of
years ago. These differed from our UK form of this population. I passed on
some of the progeny as you do in such circumstances & thought I had put
enough out for safety. I'm left with a really old trio which should be dead
by now but are still going. I cleaned out the tank today. I had a tub of
peat in just to be cheeky. As a matter of routine I netted the peat & put it
on paper. I was amazed to find eggs. These were showing signs of
development. These fish are at least 2 years old & fertile. For a
Fundulopanchax to do this is not normal. I would add that these were kept on
the top row through this time in full sunlight. Not cool water.
It would be nice to hear from others experiencing fertile eggs from this sp.
at 2 years of age.
