Re: [Killietalk] Aphyosemion eggs by mail -techniques My Recent Experience
I have successfully sent eggs in a small amount of water in breathable bags
both in very small boxes and in "mailers" wrapped in bubble wrap. Both ways
have been successful for me. In my experience, the greatest predictor of
viability of shipped eggs is whether the overseas or domestic airplane's cargo
compartment is pressurized or not. When flying back from China after the
Convention the cargo hold was not pressurized and the results on the killi eggs
were not so good. The pressure changed a round unopended can of brine shrimp
eggs into a triangle. It also exploded a large cardboard can of unopended
Progresso bread crumbs and now my luggage could be confused as a very large
meatloaf. Just my experience but hardly scientific. Eggs in very small
breathable bags is my preferred method for aphy. eggs now.
