You will find that nearly all the people on this list share your opinion 
about these discussions that degenerate into personal attacks.
I have dropped off the list in the past because of the really childish 
behavior of some list members, but rejoined because the other info was 
so valuable.
My "solution" is to write some rules in my email program that 
automatically delete all posts from certain members. It works nicely and 
doesn't offend anyone because the people who are involved in this never 
know that I am auto-deleting all their messages. I'd suggest that you 
use something like this to filter out the noise on the list.
