If there is a possibility of assigning a greeter's committee at the
convention. It would be a good idea. The problem, as I see it, is that the veterans are
really, really tied up in work. The host club members, the judges, the BOT,
the committee chairs, the speakers, etc. They would be ideal people to talk
with the new folks, but are inevitably very busy. Or perhaps even a scheduled
(early in the Convention) discussion session for newbies to ask questions and
meet folks (who should be encouraged to take an hour to attend). The only
informal gathering place is at the fish sale entry and that is a constantly changing
group. The hospitality suite is generally too crowded to introduce folks and
the newbies don't usually attend.
