Yeah. No way would I have planned to go to Tampa, now, but my parents
recently moved to Sarasota. Both ended up in managed care, this year. My
mother recently fell and broke a hip that had to be replaced -- rough at
97. My stepfather fell and had a hematoma that was as bad as a stroke.
I'm coming, ostensibly, to visit them. That covers the air fare. :-)
Guess what? The time I spend with them will not be all that great if I
get to do all the things advertised for Convention 2006. :-) I'll have a
few tough choices to make, but at least I'll get to see some old friends
and chew the (Omega 3) fat.
I'm so damned old that traveling across the country is no picnic. I have
to take time off from my (delightful!) part-time job running the county
animal shelter. A friend in my hiking classes has agreed to take my two
Labs for the week. She is a jewel, beyond compare.
FL is so photogenic, I'm having agony figuring what camera gear I can
bring without paying excess baggage charges. Where else can you walk
right up to a Sandhill Crane or Blue Heron and take a closeup?
Looking forward to renewing old acquaintances and having a ball in a few
weeks.
