I have had the AKA Convention very high on my priority list for about 35
years now. I have missed some because of conflicts or personal crises and it is
always a painful decision. Last year I attended a 55th college reunion dinner
and then drove to Washington to get there after midnight so I could judge early
the next morning. Six years ago I had the same conflict (50th reunion) but
could not get to Tampa by driving past midnight, so I missed that one. I missed
another one when a family member was gravely ill and I missed one in Portland
because I could not afford the plane fare.
I have been to three on the West Coast and many in the Midwest and the
East. Every one that I attended has been worth whatever it took to get there.
Every one that I missed, I really missed. But that's me, not everyone is as
obsessed. We will have a good time for you, Ken.
