Re: [Killietalk] Containers
If you balk at buying a 4 pack or 5-pack of "reusable" plastic containers
from Ziplock or Glad for a couple of bucks (yeah, Markus, I am defending the
cheap killifish keepers!) next time you go to the deli or your local Asian
restaurant ask them where they get their containers. Most non-chain, mom and
pop operations need to buy their supplies from a small wholesaler that is
most probably open to the public. Since you are asking for where to get the
containers they put their food in and not their food supply source, you
aren't threatening their business so they should readily tell you. These are
places where you can get 25 pounds of frozen chicken wings or 10 pounds of
hamburger patties (meat???), #10 cans of that "gourmet" soup (at least that's
what they tell you) or green beans, a half pound container of nutmeg (yeah
but a great price-a lifetime supply unless you "nog" all year long), Sam's
Clubs minus Sam. You can usually find clear plastic containers (food
quality) in 50 count sleeves (quart, pint, half pint), portion cups (one
ounce, 2, 3 or 5 ounce sizes) as well as a variety of plastic cup sizes (and
quality) as well as the lids and all are very reasonable priced (say 50 one
pint containers for about $4)(add another say $2 for 50 lids). The price is
definitely in-line with what you pay for plastic bags ($3-4 per hundred) when
you consider they are reusable and very useful in the fishroom.
