Re: [Killietalk] Australe eggs
I tried some australe eggs two ways. First I put 50 eggs into straight tap
water (no chloramines here as far as I know.) no water changes till they
hatched. I put a second batch of 50 eggs into tank water. Treated them
the same way. All but a couple hatched either way. My water is low in
carbonate hardness but has about 200 ppm TDS, I use it to cut RO to about
80 TDS for tank water changes and tanks sit at about 100 to 120 TDS
typically. I have found acriflavin plus (trade name - has some
antibacterial stuff in it) seems to help with some species like elberti or
mimbon but most eggs seem fine in straight tap at my house. I try to add
some java moss after hatching to provide some infusorians for newly hatched
fry to munch on.
