[Killietalk] Convention Schedule



Hi All:

The schedule of convention activities is given in detail below this message. I suggest you view this message in full screen mode to properly see the scheduled. We don't expect any substantial changes from this point on.  Major features:

9 Workshops
6 Raffles (30 pairs of rare fish in 5 raffles and a set of framed John Brill photos)
Gigantic fish sale
Gigantic auction
George Maier fund silent auction
Vendors
AKA Publication sales
Live plant and live food culture sales
Educational displays including a Florida native tank
Continuous Big Screen slide and video program
Live entertainment Friday night
Saturday Banquet
Sunday Brunch
Hospitality suite Friday and Saturday evening
and a collecting trip on Monday. (We guarantee that you will catch fish)

Whew ..... 

and it all happens on Memorial Day weekend, May 26-29.

Register now through the AKA website. 

It is going to be a gas people, don't miss it.

Friday, May 26, 2006

3:00-12:00 PM. Registration, fish entry, vendors, educational display open.

7:00-1:00 PM. Hospitality Room.

7:00-9:00 PM. Entertainment: Backwater Blues Band. 

8:30 PM. Raffle #1: 6 pairs of rare killifish

9:00-10:00 PM: Workshop: Liz and Jim Hutchings: Breeding and maintaining Lampeyes and large Epiplatys.

10:00 PM. Entertainment: Backwater Blues Band. 

 

Saturday, May 27, 2006.

7:00-8:00 AM. Registration and fish entry.

7:00-11:00 PM. Competition Judging.

8:00-11:00 AM. Gigantic killifish sale by some of the nation's best breeders.

9:45 AM. Raffle #2: 6 pairs of rare killifish

10:00-10:45 Workshop: Dr. Lee Harper: drilling tanks and other tasks related to installing flow through water systems 

11:00-11:45 AM Henri DeBruyn. Collecting in Gabon.

12:00 - 12:45 PM Workshop: Jack Heller: Breeding plant spawning killifish.

11:00-1:00AM. Competition Fish Display.

12:00-5:00 Public Hours

1:00 - 2:00 PM Lunch Break.

1:50 PM. Raffle #3: 6 pairs of rare killifish

1:00 - 5:00 PM Silent Auction. George Maier Fund

2:00 - 2:45 Workshop: Monty Lehmann: The Subgenus kathetys 

3:00-3:45 PM. Workshop: SKS Staff: Live food demonstrations.

3:50 PM. Raffle #4: 6 pairs of rare killifish

4:00-4:45. PM. Breeders Roundtable. Open discussion with top breeders.

5:00 - 6:00 PM Break

6:00-7:00 PM. Cocktail Hour

8:00-11:00 AM Brunch.

9:00-10:00 AM Open Board of Trustees Meeting.

10:00-10:45 Dr. Anthony Terceira: Aphyosemion chromaphyosemion group

12:00 Noon. Public registration for auction.

12:00 Noon. Issuing Florida Fishing Licenses for Monday collecting trip. 

1:00-5:00 PM. Auction.

 

Monday, May 29, 2006.

9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Collecting trip to local sites in the Tampa Bay area, hosted by experienced guides. Fish are guaranteed.
