Your timeline is off. The loss of the Cyp. diabolis was reported by Linda
Manning of the NPS at the 2004 DFC meeting in Tuscon. That meeting was held
in early November and Linda cited the floods. The Tsunami took place 6
weeks later. The fact that the traps were washed into the water was only
part of the problem, the fact that the roads were washed out prevented
access to the traps for about 10 days.
