Re: [Killietalk] water scorpions when collecting native fish.
First off I can honestly say I have never been bitten by a water scorpion
after innumerable collecting ttrips in Florida, primarily in shallow water.
Shoes -- any type, from tennis shoes, to old loafers, are a must. One's
biggest concern should be broken bottles or sticks on the bottom of the
murky water filled pools and ditches. Shoes will protect ones feet. If one
is concenred about water scorpions simply wear dungarees or old slacks to
protect your legs.
Yes, collecting is alays fun and one never knows what fish will be
collected. See you in Tampa -- and bring some old shoes. .
