Subject: [Killietalk] Water Cond. Advice

Pardon, I did look, but did not get my specific answer...
Seeking advice/opinion & vendor source for a "cost effective" water
treatment for large volumes...again, "cost effective" & large qty being the
mitigating factors (treating about 1000gal * 10-33%/wk)... Mostly been using
WECO "dechlor" for last 30yrs, its not cutting it....Likely placing a order
tomorrow so Thx in advance <end of relevant discussion>

Info in case someone else has this issue, keywords:------> gill disease,
gill damage, tap water supply; algae bloom, tap water treatment, chlorine,
ammonia, chloramines

BTW, apparently it seems a "gill disease" in certain fish is looking like
simple "gill damage", as water changes lately sends many species flying to
the surface (or even trying to jump out)...Arrrgh, any experience on
reversing this is appreciated (currently using unheated tanks (65F) &
constant water changes (using 72hr old water)

Also *thanks for the water issue tip C.Smith...I "ass-U-me-d" the city
lightened up on the tap water "additives" now that L.Erie is supporting
higher life forms, so after a 20yr absence, I did not bother testing for
chlorine levels...You might be right that the crappy tap might be a
temporary reaction by the city to some winter algae deal like down in Akron,
but who knows? let that be lesson :-)
