Cool beans Ken sounds like you have taken the whole fun out of going
collecting! :)

I have also seen similar situation at local LFS here as well. Though I have
never seen any pygmy sunfish. The darter you saw is probably the swamp
darter a ugly brown fish but with a ton of personality that will learn to
eat prepared foods even. They will eat from your hand after a while and are
just so cool! Another amazing fish because I have found them in lakes, ponds
and Rivers! Another very adaptable fish.
