[Killietalk] Second wettings

Howdy folks,

Okay, I think I'm on to the joke. Getting fry from a second wetting is like
a "snipe hunt," right? Seriously. During my vast Notho experience (5 or so
batches :-)) with re-wetting peat, I have never gotten a single additional
fry. I re-dry the peat to a condition similar to the original storage
condition. I wait from 2-4 wks. My temps aren't particularly high, mid
sixties. I feel I get decent first hatches. Help??

Also, a while back I had problems with fallax eggs not developing. 6/7 wks
into storage eggs were still clear. The solution to that seemed to be
wetting and redrying the peat to stimulate development. I got fry on 2nd,
3rd, and maybe even the 4th float. What gives with the nothos?

Thanx!

Keith

Kordon Breathing Bag e-News 01/12/06

You are receiving this e-mail because of your contact with us in the past
concerning "Kordon Breathing Bags." If you wish to be removed from further
mailings on this subject, write info at novalek_com and state "remove from
breathing bags mailing list." You are welcome to share the information
herein with others.

The following is up-to-date information on the current status of Kordon
Breathing Bags. For all who have written us praising the Kordon Breathing
Bags and urging that they be continued -- thank you very much for your kind
comments.
  ---------------------------------------------------------

As most of you already know from previous e-mails, the technology for
Kordon Breathing Bags was by scientists from the Russian space program who
subsequently abandoned their venture, leaving us with the technology that
was further developed in U.S. manufacture. Originally, for years we were
using this technology in shipping various live aquatic invertebrates from
Siberia to California and back across America.

The Kordon Breathing Bags involve a special ethylene plastic formulation
that is complicated and more expensive than regular polyethylene bags. So
far, we have received excellent cooperation from the U.S. plastics suppliers
to be able to continue supplying Breathing Bags. We have just received a
new shipment of items 50101 and 50102, with moderately increased pricing
[see below for pricing], of the same quality as before.

  ---------------------------------------------------------

At this time ithe Breathing Bags that we have in stock in the original
printed bags are the following items, with no change in pricing:
50100....4"x8" 1.5 microns thick, printed bag, $0.069 ea at original price
still maintained for orders of less than 5000, (5000 per case $325.00, at
$0.065 each)
50109....16"x14"x30", 3.0 microns thick, $0.380 ea at original price still
maintained for orders less than 200, (200 per case $71.60, at $0.358 each).
Note that breathability of 50109 is 1/2 that of the other bags that are 1.5
microns thick
  ----------------------------------------------

For items 50101 and 50102 just now in stock, the Kordon logo printed on
the Breathing Bags is reduced in the amount of space that it takes, without
printed instructions, because the response we have received is to reduce the
space used for printing on the bags. The breathability and strength of the
bags is the same as the previous production runs of these bags.

The listings and pricing for the new production runs at prices increased by
15% are:

  50102....7.5"x12", 1.5 microns thick, cost $0.14 ea, 2000 per case, $280
per case
[original price was $220, at $0.11 ea].
  50101....11.5"x19", 1.5 microns thick, cost $0.23 ea, 1000 per case, $230
per case
[original price was $200 per case, at $0.20 ea].

Please Note:

In addition we have the following in unprinted Kordon Breathing Bags that
are in good condition but apparently may have throughout the stock some
flawed bags that leak at their seal. Therefore all need to be checked when
packing to be sure that they do not leak. Leakers can be immediately
determined when filled with water. Refunds will be provided on those found
to be leakers. For minimum pricing -- Orders need to be by rolls, 5000 bags
per roll.
50107....2.5"x5", 1.5 microns thick, unprinted bag in rolls of 5000, $225
per roll, $0.045 ea at original price still maintained (50,000 in stock)
50108....4"x8" 1.5 microns thick, unprinted bag in rolls of 5000, $325 prt
toll, $0.065 ea at original price still maintained (40,000 in stock)
