Yes, that is certainly true and in my case I have established that no
chloramines are added to our water supply, only chlorine. The City of
Nanaimo has a very good website with posted details of water quality
(analysed quarterly) going back six years. However, apparently, small
amounts of chloramines can form in the water and, to quote the website:
"Occasionally, usually late summer/early fall natural processes in our
supply reservoirs release small amounts of ammonia and react with chlorine
to form chloramines........"
