[Killietalk] ramshorns
Totally off topic regarding killies but I'm experimenting with ramshorn
snails with some great results. They are very good at clearing up uneaten
food in my tanks. Brine shrimps & the food I sell online (not intended as an
advert Barry) containing Astaxanthin are their only introduced food source.
They clean up a treat. Two points which might be worthy of some discussion.
Firstly, they are extremely red - redder than I have seen before; secondly,
they quickly kill off the common water snail we have in UK tanks. I don't
know if they directly kill them but loads of shells are taken out in water
changes & they seem to overun other forms to dominate tanks.
Does the ramshorn predate other snails I wonder?
Tim (in an extremely rainy, windy UK).
