Re: [Killietalk] "Setting the hook"
I've been keeping fish since I was about eight, (minus about 2 years in
highschool) and bred a few things, always looking for something different.
I don't remember where exactly I saw my first pic of a killi, either TFH or
the internet. (Probably TFH) I do remember it was a gardneri. I did a
little more looking and found more information. The next issue of TFH came
and in the announcements section was WAKO's show for 2002. I attended and
was hooked. I picked up some GAR Jos Plateau, GAR Misaje, and Australe
orange. Shortly after I was gifted A. bitaeniatum Benin City from Erny May,
who (along with the rest of WAKO) has been very generous over the last 3
years. I failed with all of them except the BIT, which took until last year
to die out, though I wasn't overly successful with them. My success has
been steadily improving, but I'm still not a good breeder. I just don't
have the space, and I don't always have the time. But I'm getting there.
:) I joined WAKO and then the AKA last year, and I've been to the last 4
WAKO shows, and the last 2 Chicago shows. I've gotten to know lots of great
people, who have all been helpful and generous.
