Re: [Killietalk] "Setting the hook"

If I told you all that this was research you might stop but keep this going
on how you acquired this addiction, this is good stuff. It would be nice
hearing from some more of you newer folks. There has only been a little
about the influence of some of the current vehicles for information or fish.
I know I am curious of just how many came by killies through non-AKA channels
and I would expect other BOT members are as well. Each of us who reads these
posts on KillieTalk have their own thoughts on what might be the best way to
induce others to work with killies or to better provide killies to the
general public. By relating just how you got on board yourself is
tremendously valuable information as is even how you might have viewed others
getting involved.

One quick observation is that many of us are plain cheapskates and we
acquired some of our first killies on the cheap or as gifts or handouts.
Even though the care you provide for something is relative to what you paid
for it, killies somehow charmed you into giving them more attention and
staying with them and investing further. Getting info in national
publications always helps the cause as does providing promotion material for
local clubs but you should be seeing the thread that killies need to be out
there available for the public to bring in more advocates. Although it may
sound a little heartless, unlike puppy mills or kitty mills, there aren't
stray killies out there in need of spaying or neutering and breeding lots of
extra killies for public consumption for other cheapskates in the future
isn't such a bad idea.

As Dr. Frazier Crane would say..."I'm listening"
