Well, I started keeping fish in 1956.  

In the 1960's I read "The Innes Book" and became fascinated by some of the 
stories about killies.

In the 1970's I found this little aquarium store on (I think) Belmont Avenue 
in Chicago called "Maier's Aquarium"
