Re: [Killietalk] "Setting the hook"/ first killies?

Good thread idea

I kept fish starting 1970 but didn't get into killies until 1990. Marine
Aquarium burnout. I had seen them in books for years but had never seen one
in a fish shop. I got my first killes at my club, the Saskatoon Aquarium
Society monthly auction (which looks like it is still going strong).

I knew about the AKA but was living in Canada and was essentially dead broke
(Grad Student) so I never joined. I kept only a few cichlid after I moved to
the States until fairly recently 2003 (no more fiancee, lot's more money and
time to spend on myself and my hobbies). When I started keeping killifish
again in 2003 I joined the AKA.

What were peoples first killies?

Mine were blue gularis, A. garderni and Simp. Whitei, in that order. I
spawned the first two but lost the pearlfish to a heater malfunction.

Best wishes,

Earl
