I find your approach on the Badis very interesting! That is almost how
I treat my Elassoma evergladei(Everglades pygmy sunfish). They are
kept in a low tech 2 gallon critterkeeper thickly planted with java
moss/Najas and also with a covering of duckweed. Adults feed
blackworms and BS and the tank receives squirts of greenwater.
Lighting is from a window so the light levels in this tank are low, at
least on one side. As often as possible I feed BBS to these
containers. I haven't found removing the adults necessary with these
guys, the fry seem to be ignored. I've wondered how small Aphyosemion
would do in a tank like this.

Also did a bigger version(except a little more plant diversity,
artificial light, and also fed prepared foods) with Aphyosemion
splendopleure and they seem to work well with it(got juvies).
