Re: [Killietalk] Conservation was Skewed sex ratios:

Final thought; in a perfect world, it be nice for us to "BLOG" our hatches
on the website just for data mining...(the BKA site "Sorta" does this
already)...It would be dang beneficial to locate a hobbyist with the
opposite sex ratio problem and compare water params, etc...(I'd be glad to
post mine here for comparison even if it just helps one person out)

***Conservation Sugg: I know many of us are private with our fish list, but
in the interest of conservation, dare I suggest a anonymous pin# for match
making purposes?

I agree that we could do more to make a conscientious effort to make
sure species are conserved in the hobby. I believe this was even brought up
on Killietalk AWAG. It would seem like a good idea to make sure someone else
in the region you live in is also keeping a fish before you discontinue its
keeping. Make sure the torch still burns, so to speak. I also have looked at
the BKA site and feel they've made some good efforts along these lines.
I've also seen a Notho site, the particulars of which escape me just now,
that I believe lists keepers by just such a pin. The problem of course is
whether or not people are willing to take some time every once in a while to
update their species list on such a centralized list. After all...they may
be too busy reading Killietalk to have the time to update said data base :-)
