I would NEVER have joined if it were not for a BUNCH of folk that have
mentored me and written some pretty long emails...name dropping is one
thing, but there is a sense of pride placing certain folks names on the
aquarium labels...
The fish are just the "thing" to pass around and talk about...

I am truly concerned in this age of ringtones, I-Pods and the like, that we
just might be subjugating the new Gen-X membership with just another
"delivered content" and nothing more...
For those of us whose 1st watches were not digital and remember the blue
circle thingy on the TV sets, I think it is something to think about with
regard to being more interactive in our decsion making processes...

As usual my $50 worth...Ken

If someone joins just because of JAKA, or, more to the point, consider JAKA
as the sole resource they get from the AKA, they're missing a LOT - the BNL,
for one.  But, most important of all are the contacts.  I'm glad to be a
part of the AKA, glad to contribute my membership dollars, and I'm looking
forward to the day when my schedule allows me to contribute even more than
that.  I value the input/mentoring I get from other, more experienced
hobbyists, and the cameraderie - and you can't really put a price tag on any
of that. "Giving away" the articles will get us MANY more new members than
will saying "If you give us your money, we'll let you see these archived
articles and you'll also get a publication from our club every two months."
