Re: [Killietalk] CD project
So WHAT IS A FAIR PRICE?
Those who paid for their JAKAs over the past 40 years have paid
approximately 40x$25/yr in dues to get them. That's $1000, Is that the
fair price?
And then if the budget for this is in the realm being quoted, perhaps
that would be the cost to the 25 people who Really do buy it.
(Everyone "wants" KMI until its time to shell out the dollars. Ask
Dick.)

I'm surprised that some individuals feel there aren't enough members
interested in having a JAKA CD to warrant work on the project.
Since this topic was first brought up and discussed some years ago,
there has been a good deal of grass-roots interest expressed. About half
of
our local club members (Greater Cincinnati Killifish Association) have
said
that if the price wasn't restrictive they'd like to buy a copy for their
personal records and research. I've heard similar comments from members
of
other affiliate clubs. The fish information in those old JAKAs is
priceless.
As I understand it, the primary obstacles are 1) the volume of
material,
2) a person willing to coordinate (and delegate) the required tasks, and
3)
the amount of time required. At the beginning, when Barry was overseeing
the
project (and before he commented that the task was too big for him to
handle
alone), a number of individuals had come forward to offer their help ...
and
there action on the effort ended.
I'm one of those who would gladly buy a CD copy of back issues (for
a
fair price), and I know a number of GCKA and AKA members still feel ths
same
way.
So why do we {the AKA) keep dragging our feet on this project?
