Just one old farts opinion:
I find the fanaticism over the JAKA on CD issue amazing. My view is that
there are maybe 2 dozen members who want this thing and are willing to
offend the rest of us in their ardor, donate BIG BUCKs (talking a
quarter million bucks in some peoples estimates) to get it done, spend
years of work on the task and insist that it be perfect, uncopy-able.
ME, I don't give a rats patootie for the project.
If I want an old JAKA I'll take the trouble to find the old one myself
and have it in a form that I can read it anywhere I want (a book) rather
than be forced in front of a computer screen. Computers are wonderful
tools but they don't replace BOOKS.
If I had a couple hundred "fishy-bucks" to throw around (as one member
seems to), I'd donate it to the George Maier Fund where it would fund
research and conservation for the next hundreds of years.
Priorities......on a list of 200 AKA priorities, I would put JAKA on CD
in the top 150.
