[Killietalk] Creating junkies-Recruitment drive

I haven't checked any BNL recently but I imagine there are a few "excess"
bucks out there...
Now farbeit for a regular subscriber such as myself dare suggest how to
spend a few "K" but please follow....

-say "hypothetically" 25K is "excess", say we take 10% of that or 2500K for
"recruitment" purposes
-say "hypothetically" the avg pair of killies is 7-10 bucks and 2500K buys
200 pair/eggs (if not more)
-say "hypothetically" we buy "back" these killies from current AKA members
(committing a small blasphemy of logic by putting a few bucks back in our
pockets)or folks donate a few pair or whatever...
-say "hypothetically" we "package" these killies such that 3-4 dissimilar
pair = around 25-40$market value ...a "killie package" if you will

We then run auctions on Aquabid or at our website under AKA recruitment
auspices as follows:
auction starts at $25 for 3-4 pair or whatever....

"if winning bidder is a non-AKA member", we will donate 1st $24 towards AKA
membership, auction open to all but shipping is USA only (fish) or wherever
for eggs...pmt MO only, priority ship, no live guarantees blah blah
(basically standard disclaimer stuff)

difference being; any interested winning bidders get a "recruitment app"
with key questions finding out why they have not joined, why killies, what
they ;like, blah blah blah

Now I imagine if the winning bidder does not want to join for a buck...oh
well, we get our $25 bucks or dare I say, even profit from the sale...

Even if the occasional person only wants to try killies that's a step in the
right direction...

Even if it's a opportunist looking for fish at a bargain  at least we have a
year for them to see if the "AKA" shoe fits...

Thing is we spend $2500 expanding our base by 0-100 members and we use this
opportunity to capture folks who would otherwise never have joined...kind of
like a dope dealer giving away free samples just to create more junkies...

My thinking is this, worse case no one joins and we keep all the sale
proceeds  
and so we waste 25K on a experimental recruitment...heck there are worse
ways to spend a few K to potentially gain 100 members...NTM the fact finding
survey is worth that in gold...

I also thinking sending fish to volunteer "distibutors" is no different then
sending fish for shows...or each "donator" can ship
themselves..whatever..details can be worked out...

Granted this is a raw idea, and could have holes, but on the surface worse
case we waste 2500 but gain 100 new "fresh blood" members...and naturally
nothing is w/o pros & cons, but if the Pro's outweigh a few cons, it's worth
it...

sorry for the "Non-fish" AKA idea, on this AKA venue, but I did not want to
send this in a private email, lest it get lost...NTM it would be nice to
find out what the consensus thinks or cares about growth...
