[Killietalk] Fish room racks
Having just bought another couple of these racks, some things I have
noticed.
My original racks from about 5 years ago were rated 1500 lbs per shelf. Some
of them did not required that the upper and lower vertical pieces be joined
by forcing a shelf at that point. They have their own connectors to join.
That gave complete independence on where the shelves went. All the new ones
require a shelf right in the middle.
Now the rack ratings are all over the place. 500 lbs, 750, 1250. Be very
careful. The lower rating racks do not have the two sets of vertical support
pieces joining together in a trustworthy manner. Some are quite flimsy and
you will have them cross over on each other, bringing everything down.
36" width will do 3 10's on a shelf sideways, or a 20 long, 30 breeder, 29
They will also do 4 5's on end or if you have access to both sides of the
shelf you can do 2 5s long ways on each side.
You can also get a lot of critter tanks on a shelf, particularly if you have
access to both sides. I have 7 2 gallon critter tanks on each shelf.
