Re: [Killietalk] Fertile eggs that do not develop

Pardon the last post, I imagine if your eggs were infertile" to begin with,
then you would not have clear eggs... I wasn't thinking...(unbelievable but
true <G>)...

>I have many eggs that are a full 7 weeks old now that are still as clear as
the day they were >laid, yet with no embryonic development.

Yeah that is odd considering the nation wide heat these past few
months....BTW, you can water incubate fallax? I usually get a gob of
"jellied caviar" if I leave any of the bigger FP's in water more than a day
or so...

>Has anyone seen this?
Yep, I've managed to create some really nice clear amber "pickled eggs"
using improperly prepared "Jiffy Peat" (basically raw, uncut &
unboiled)...I'd bet the eggs would remain in that "suspended animation" for
50yrs...(and I'm fully aware, I may catch some flack for this slanderous
"sacrilege" against Jiffy7)...
I'd almost swear that finer peat almost creates too much "acidic" contact on
a big egg (but this is coming from someone with a total 2+ yrs
experience)...so what do I know?

Subject: [Killietalk] Fertile eggs that do not develop

I'm having a problem with F. fallax eggs not developing. I'd say about 5%
of the eggs have developed normally. Has anyone seen this? Is there some
environmental trigger these eggs are waiting for before they develop? These
particular eggs were stored in slightly damp mops. I've also seen it in
water incubated and peat incubated eggs.

Thanks.

Keith
