Re: [Killietalk] Fertile eggs that do not develop
Keith,
How big are your "boys"?...like sjoestedi, I'm not sure they are good
"lovers" till they are about 4-5"...as I don't recall a viable bag of peat
until mine were pretty big (I'm talking about the orange type)..and BTW, my
gut feeling is you can't exactly play "marbles" with fallax eggs like you
can w/nothos etc...I don't think they are as touchy as SJO, but almost
so....

Subject: [Killietalk] Fertile eggs that do not develop
I'm having a problem with F. fallax eggs not developing. I have many eggs
that are a full 7 weeks old now that are still as clear as the day they were
laid, yet with no embryonic development. I'd say about 5% of the eggs have
developed normally. Has anyone seen this? Is there some environmental
trigger these eggs are waiting for before they develop? These particular
eggs were stored in slightly damp mops. I've also seen it in water
incubated and peat incubated eggs.
Thanks.
Keith
