I failed to say what the drywall screw does. The silicone in the end will
harden, thus sealing the end off to some degree. The duct tape will further
seal the end. When you need to use it again, take the tape off, and pull the
screw out and the hard silicone will come out with the screw. The other
trick here with the caulking tubes is to only cut the very tip of the tube
off. I have being using this method for over twenty years. I have built and
repaired tanks from 2 1/2 to 250 gallons. I do all of the aquarium repairs
for a local glass company. The 100% silicone is the same stuff the aquarium
manufactures use, only they use it in larger quantifies.
