Depends on how chubby you are, 2ft is good for me to walk behind the racks,
but of course I only left 1 foot.
If you have a twelve foot row of tanks they you need to be able to walk
behind if the filtration stuff is at the back of the tanks.
2ft shelf depth is just a little too deep for my arms to reach through to
the back, but of course I am a small lady.

I am sorry, phrased my question wrong. What is the suggested distance
between racks. I don't want to guess 4 ft, then find I could have gotten
another row in if I had gone 3 ft because 4 ft is way too much space. Or
maybe even worse, go 3 ft and find I am spending all my time twisted up
trying to catch the fish in the tanks.
