[Killietalk] RE: Fish room design

Dear Dave,

If you are talking about laying out racks of tanks I offer this basic
suggestion. Figure out what will be the longest tank you have in that rack.
Get someone with a tape measure or ruler and then grab the tank lengthwise,
i.e., one hand on each of the short ends, measure the distance from one elbow
to the next (outside measurement please and then add maybe two inches per arm
to compensate for staggering when you try to lift the bugger because you
haven't drained out all of the water and it weighs more than you though or
you don't knock off those containers you balanced on the edges of all the
neighboring tanks as you maneuver it to a position to clean it). This is
your minimum working distance between racks. IF you have had previous
employment with Cirque de Soleil, you can narrow the spacing. If expect to
entertain Al Anderson, add en extra foot!
