Re: [Killietalk] Fish room design

Don Mortenson had some clever rack designs, using stepped rows of tanks, which were shown in images on the old gallery. Unfortunately they were lost when we changed to the new gallery. Don, if you are listening, how about posting those again?

My own racks are set up as simple shelves. I have about 10" clearance between the top of the bottom row of tanks and the bottom of the 2x4 forming the top shelf. i.e. about 10" vertical clearance. Between racks, I allow at least 40", otherwise is just gets too difficult to work between them.

To accomplish that and still get lots of tanks in the allotted floor space stair step your rack to have an unencumbered access to the tanks.

Vertically, make sure that you can get a quart mason jar into the tanks
without tipping it, then you should have enough room for most anything
else you need as well.

A question for those with a fishroom, or at least rows of tanks on some
sort
of rack. What is the minimum distance between the rows that allows
maintenance of the tanks? Tanks are be mostly 10's and 5's, with a couple
of 20 longs.
