You seem to show a profound misunderstanding of the judging
process, which I have done a lot.

From what fish I have seen in the shows for the past few National

conventions I have attended (only 3 of the last 5) so do the entrants. I have seen only a couple of fish that I would, ( and did) bid on. and those were not winners. Most of the entrants are not necessarily "old" but very fully mature and I have stated that I feel that mature fish, moved to new enviroments, do not do as well as young fish.

I agree 100% with that, Bill.

It makes for a "Catch 22" situation for the judges. They cannot choose really young fish that have not fully developed, and older fish don't move homes as readily. IMHO, there are some deep flaws in the process that have not been fixed by some pretty smart folks. As a result, I take it all a bit lightly, and enjoy the get-togethers and don't weigh the results as too significant. I know that runs counter to the feeling of someone in the running for Breeder of The Year, but it is still my casual way of dealing with a less-than-perfect situation.

What we have is better than I experienced in dog shows or maybe even Livebearer and Betta shows.

Enjoy,

Wright
