Re: [Killietalk] Futher into the morass...

As further testimony to the problems of bringing home fish from the
Convention, I too, along with Dave K. have had problems with fish I bring home from
the Convention. I do not have an explanation for this except I can add that
fish that I have gotten from people independently from the auction and fish
sale have generally done much better. These fish have had the same time in
transit and the same treatment when I get them home. The thing they are lacking is
the time in a tank with people looking at them with flashlights or the time in
a bag with people holding them up to look at them in the fish sale room. Maybe
it is those people inspections that are killing the fish.
Do I believe this? No! But something is putting these fish at risk for
sure. I really would like to get other people's opinions on why this is so. Dave
has mentioned that he does better with fish from European shows. Why is that?
I don't think it is because they are better breeders. The fish we get through
NRSC come from Europe and I have very poor success with them as well. Perhaps
it is our fish bagging and transporting methods. What is different about that?
