We are trying to establish captive breeding colonies of endangered Aphanius with a view to restocking their native areas where they have become extinct. This is a long-term project which is being assisted by many fishkeepers worldwide but it is based in London, U.K. If you live in a country that allows legal export of these species, (some of which are on the CITES lists so have to have two govrnments agreeing to a movement) and are able to help us with locating surplus tank-bred stock we would love to hear from you. We know that some countries are not accepted as accreddited sources by DEFRA, the UK licencing body and some species also require additional agreements if they are listed in the Berne Convention Appendix documents on Endangered species, we are told that Libya is unfortunately an unacceptable source and we have to check other offers with DEFRA but they are really helpful and appreciate our good intentions.
We woere wondering if these Aphanius species were kept by any of your members who may be able to assist our work?.
Thanks in advance.
