RE: [Killietalk] (no subject)
I will give you all an easier way to boil the peat. Put the peat into a
glass container and add enough water so that when the peat sinks, the water
will be about an inch over it. Now place some saram wrap over the
container so no odors leak out and place this into the micro wave and boil
for about 3 to 5 minutes. The peat will be purified and will sink to the
bottom.
Sincerely,
Bro. Paul

Fluval make a long stranded peat for filter media, but good luck getting it
to sink. I have boiled it 3 times and had it sitting on water for 2 weeks,
and it's still not sinking.

Hello All!
Glad to see everyone had some fun at the big show! Wish I was able to
attend, perhaps next year! Anyway, thought I would try a different
substrate
in my diap tanks and would like to get hold of some long stranded
peat/sphagnum(sp?) moss. Anyone have suggestions as to which to use? Should
it be boiled?
Thanks!
