[Killietalk] Diapteron Data Collection
Hello everyone!
I am posting to this to ask all those interested, and willing to share your data, to send me your Diapteron info. I am a member of the Diapteron group, a discussion list on Yahoo, as well as an AKA and NWK member. I am trying to collect as much data on Diapterons, to produce some kind of data base reflecting data such as your name, Diapteron species being kept, husbandry used for the fish and success of production as well as the time you have kept these species! It has been a slow start collecting this data, and I suspect it is because Killie keepers can be tight-lipped when concerning their success with Diapterons. I want you to take this for consideration. After two months of data collection and research on the web, and research using the books available, such little data exists to help Jo Q. Public when determining the husbandry of these little Jewels of the rainforest! You can find loads of data concerning every species and new species out there, but seems that info, or info that would be helpful with fish husbandry concerning Diapterons is minimal. With this in mind, I am proposing to you and to all those interested to send me this data:
For each species you have, please give me as much of this info as possible:
Species of Diapteron being kept.
Years/Months kept.
Number of generations produced
Aquarist name (optional)
Ave TDS for Fry (TDS is the Total dissolved solids)
Ave TDS for Adults
Ave PH for fry
Ave PH for Adults
Ave temperature for fry
Ave temperature for the Adults
This is a great project for us to tackle, assuming we are all interested in the long term procurement and production of our fish! This data will be available to all those interested by contacting me directly at Thebiologist at charter_net. Assuming this data collection begins to collect significant information, I will ask Barry that the list be possibly made available here at the AKA site. Of course, only a few people have volunteered to give me any data, so this is still a trial request!
Thanks for your time;
