RE: [Killietalk] Pachypanchax
I am not sure how cool Pachypanchax can go. I have kept P. sakaramyi down
in the upper 60's in the winter and into the 80's in the summer. Dr.
Loiselle wrote a short article on Pachypanchax for the NEC convention
Speaker's Anthology, and mentioned that he lets P. sakaramyi go down to
about 60 in the winter, and that the fish benefit from this cooling off
period. It sounds like he keeps the other species down to the low 70's.
You could always add a heater in the winter to raise the tank temperature up
to 60 from 55.
Best wishes,

Thanks Richard,
Tony's pictures are great. The sp. Talio is really nice looking.
I know that Pachypanchax benefit from a cool period, but how cool can
they be kept without harm? I ask because I have a garage which is
heated to 55F during the winter. It goes up to about 80 during the
summer. Would this temp range be good for keeping Pachypanchax? If so
I might be able to dedicate a 30 or a 55 for a spawning group.
Thanks,
Chris
