RE: [Killietalk] Re: Convention Loans for Retirees (Mike Brem)
OK, now its time to take Al's side for a moment.
Fact: the AKA is getting older and includes more and more retirees every
year. I will join those ranks within the next two months.
Fact: the last convention and this one have not been the cheapest. Last
year we had travel costs and this year we have an area of inflated
everything costs thanks to all the high dollar Federal employees in the
area (sorry Dave, had to throw that barb in)
So I agree, its time for a host group to come along who can offer us a
low budget convention next year.
Indy, Pittsburg. Columbus, Cleveland (go Browns), just a good old down
home blue collar city where the hotels need business, the interstate is
nearby and the McDonalds is within walking distance. I wouldn't want
that every year, ( I'd still love a Honolulu convention) but the time is
right to go that way, if possible.

This is when I have to thank Ken Simolo for posting 'cool off before you
post.'
I strongly disagree with this proposal and hope that AKA BOT never
spends
any time looking into it. We're stirring up a 'tempest in a teapot' over
a
few 'fixed income' recipients (I guess they make no income from their
fish
sales at the convention, probalby none that's reported as income,
anyway)
whining that it's not cheap to attend an AKA. Life's a bitch - then you
die.
Get over it.
Enough said on this. I need to go for a walk now to lower the BP.
