I guess what I really need to know is, what foods we feed our fish are especially high in tyrosine? I also wonder if sunlight might be a necessary stimulant as it is in human melanocytes? Anyone with the answer? Maybe I should keep my fish in outdoor sunlit pools? Joe

Mine eat anything alive - worms, larvae, daphnia, and some flake foods high
in protein. However, mine are not melanistic. Some I had in a cool area died
when the temperature dipped below 40 degrees this winter. I have other juveniles
inside that are doing fine.
