Re: [Killietalk] South Texas Native Killies
I have been planning to get out and collect some of the native killies that
can be
found here in Corpus Chrisit, TX, but was curious if anyone knew offhand
what
species they are. Unfortunately I dont have any pics (yet.)
I own a copy of the Peterson Field Guide series, Freshwater Fishes of North
America. It's a great little book with some nice plates. I can tell you one
Killi that really caught my eye is the Western Starhead Topminnow, Funuduls
blairae, which occurs in SE Texas. Looks live a really neat fish. Looks to
be a surface feeder, maybe sort of Epiplatys like.
I would get a hold of that field guide.
