The trouble comes in when the ph in the bag has become very low. The
ammonia has become non-toxic. You start adding new water to the old
you raise the ph and the ammonia again becomes toxic and you cook the
fish. I personnaly fast all of the fish that I ship for at least 24
hours and on the large discus I fast then for at least 3 days. This
should reduce the ammonia produced dramatically but I still prefer that
my customers use the open and blop method. I have never had it cause a
problem.
