Re: [Killietalk] Breather bag question
John, I'm sure there are times when your approach is
wisest, like when a bag is opened and the scent of the
water is so foul, it slaps you in the face. It becomes
a priority to just get the fish out of the stuff.
Surely we can get away with that more often that we
realize.
Brad Higgins used to call that, "acclimation at 32
feet per second."
The rest of the time, I'd still rather adjust the fish
more carefully. Too careful is better than not careful
enough. Hemorrhaging gills, from an abrupt and drastic
shift in water, may never be noticed. When the fish
takes sick or dies several days later, we may blame
the seller for that mystery death and it wasn't their
fault that the killie's immune system was compromised.
All the best,
Scott
