RE: [Killietalk] Foersichtys Information

Hi Sandy,

I have kept Foerschichthys flavipinnis, for about 4 days! It just so
happens that I purchased 7 last Friday. By Monday the last one had died. I
am guessing shipping stress did them in, since they showed no signs of
disease or injury that I could see. I did not do a full post mortem,
however so they may have had internal problems. They were less than 1"
long. They also were not that interested in eating when offered BBS. Such
small fish probably cannot go very long without eating before suffering
permanent damage.

Wildekamp's "A world of killies" Vol 3 has an entry for this fish. The
genus contains a single species: Foerschichthys flavipinnis. It sounds like
you would do best to raise them in a natural setup with lots of plants.
Adults don't bother the fry, which reqire infusoria as a first food. I was
not able to find a lot of information on these fish either.

Best wishes,
Rich Pierce

these fish?
Regards,
