Re: [Killietalk] Eggs on Peat

I packed some various Aphyosemion and Epiplatys eggs on peat to slow down development long enough to get into Argentina (takes 3 weeks minimum no matter how you send stuff there.) Juan got the eggs and they took several additional weeks to an additional month to hatch. Includeed. Epi dageti, A australe, A cauvetti, and a few others. Been a few years so I don't remember what all species were in there, but they seemed to show no developemnt until puut back into water. Just layed there. I had some gardneri P62(?) eggs I got from Bro Paul that were stored on a fiber like material. They sat for about 8 weeks in water before any hatched. Not sure, but I think that most Aphy, Epi and some Fp eggs just don't like it dry.

Subject: [Killietalk] Eggs on Peat

I have been trying to store eggs on damp peat for the last couple of weeks instead of my usual water incubation method just to compare the two methods. I have some gardneri eggs (Basua & Misaje) that I have had on the damp peat for about 15 days now and they appear to still be mostly in a clear state. I realize they may incubate a little longer on the peat, but I thought they should show some development by now. Does anyone out there have any suggestions why the eggs have not shown any development yet?? Or is this nnormal??
Thanks,
George
