Subject: West Coast Weekend Update

All,

Use the website to order stuff on-line, register for the WCW and your
hotel accommodations. I learned today that we are within 2-3 registered
nights of our goal of 20 at the Silver Cloud Inn. Remember, when we
reach that goal, the cost of the Lecture room rental is waived; saving
us some $800!!!

I have received the T-shirts now and they look awesome! We have four
fabric colors to choose from this year, in a variety of sizes. I Have a
pretty good idea (see list below) of the fish that will be available at
WCW this time out. Many of these are coming over with Steffen Hellner,
our speaker from Germany. Of course this list does not include all the
great animals that the other speakers, and attendees will be bringing to
the show themselves. In addition, we will have a display of Aquarium
plants (and plants for sale) from "Displariums", Some Rare Dwarf
Cichlids From David Soares, A display of Reverse Osmosis filtration
equipment from our friend (and speaker) Ron Harlan, a display (and
opportunity to buy) of small food cultures and equipment from ED's Fly
meat, Inc, in addition to Don Greigs "Wine tasting and Live food"
workshop.

On Friday the 1st, I will plan to arrive at the Silver Cloud around 12
noon or perhaps a little sooner. I met with Linnea, the planner at the
Silver Cloud, this morning and discussed getting us into the "show" room
as early as possible that day in order to get a head start on setting up
the tables, stands and tanks.

Question: Can I get a show of hands of who will be there to help set up?

Don Greig was able to pick up these items from Sue Bunte while he was
down in California. It looks like we will have access to both of the
rooms pretty much all day on Friday.

Question: Don, what time are you planning to be there on Friday?

If you have fish to go in the show, be sure to have them tanked and
settled in sometime Friday, because the Judging will start early on
Saturday morning (7am). If they are coming in from out-of-town you can
send them to me at:

Brian Perkins
1255 Swift Shore Circle
West Linn, OR 97068

No later than March 28th please!!

Question: Jeremy, are you going to be able to get the ribbons done for
us this year?

The sooner you get your fish in through Jeremy and Thuan's registration
process, the sooner we can take off in the Stretch Hummer to dinner at
Edgefield! The monster Truck is also available for airport pickup.

Question: How many people can we get comfortably into the beast?

This is the chance for the people involved in the setup to speak
one-on-one with our speakers. So come on down! On Saturday, your program
will tell you about how the Speakers will start at 9am and go right
through the day with a break for lunch and a Silent auction at the end.

Question: Pat, do you need anything else to complete the program?
Speaker Pics/Bios, sponsor logos, schedule of events, ??????

Tom will run the raffle again this year, and it looks like we'll have
some interesting items again from several sponsors. Bring any books,
food cultures, driftwood, plants, used gear for the Silent auction,
because the main auction will be limited to Fish only, so that we can
get through it all in a reasonable time frame. Barry Cooper has
generously volunteered to tape the talks for a DVD release later this
year.

Question: Bob, can you verify with Shawn @ GPAS that we can rent the
Digital projector and computer setup for the day on Saturday? Can you
pick it up from her? If not, I can swing by sometime in the next couple
of weeks.

On Saturday night, as we did last year, we will organize a trip downtown
to an eatery/brewpub for further socializing. Sunday will involve tear
down of tanks and bagging of/registering fish for the auction. Do not
wait till the last minute to fill out your registration forms and risk
not getting your items in the auction. Get your forms filled out and
over to Jeremy as early as possible.

If we run over on the time for a speaker from Saturday, we will fill in
with a mid-morning time slot to make sure all of the speakers get their
allotted talk-time. Next, a short awards session to present the ribbons
from the show will lead in to the auction itself.

Any questions?

Have I missed anything?

Best,

Brian
