Re: [Killietalk] USPS regulations

Karen,

I wish I would pay only $60 for 100lbs. Right now I pay $70 for 35 pounds. The airlines want at least 24 shipments (per airline so I can only use 1 airline) per year to be a "Known shipper" If I am not a known shipper they will not accept packages. I think they also only do airport to airport. That is a problem for people living an hour away from an airport. Do you ship using airlines?

Update. I called three people at the USPS offices in Syracuse NY. There are several more pieces of information gathered. One person said that the airlines are no longer accepting any mail from the USPS so the USPS has to ground transport everything (express mail still goes through FedEx but FedEx never took live fish as mail from the USPS)

I then talked to the person who sent them the orders (memo) and they said that the airlines are no longer accepting live animals or fish but I could use them directly.
The person who sent them the memo said the same thing and suggested a grass roots effort to get the airlines to accept mail again.

Funny, the airlines don't seem to have a problem accepting live animals for
shipping if you're paying their rates. 60.00/100lb for live fish, and there
is a 100lb freight minimum.

Try UPS Super Saver see what they have to offer

Hello,

I just recieved some information from my local USPS office. They recieved
notice that the airlines will no longer be accepting live animals for
shipping. I said "fish are not classified as live animals"

We tried to find it in thier books but could not (section C seems to
classify fish as cold blooded animals)

This just happened. Please inquire at your local post office (friendly
people) and find out if you can still ship fish.

Does anyone remember the regulation citation for shipping fish.
